At least 11 people have been killed and dozens injured after a tourist bus overturned in western Mexico, authorities have confirmed.
The accident occurred near Amatlán de Cañas in Nayarit, where the bus veered off the road and overturned.
Initial reports indicated that at least 31 passengers were injured. However, the state prosecutor’s office later confirmed that 11 people had died, including six at the scene and five in hospital.
Authorities said they are coordinating with officials in Jalisco, where the bus departed, and have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
Emergency services transported the injured to nearby hospitals, while investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
