At least 11 people have been injured in a mass stabbing incident at a Walmart store in Traverse City, Michigan, according to local authorities.
Six of the victims are in critical condition, with the remaining five reported to be in serious condition as of late Saturday.
The Michigan State Police confirmed that the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the attack. A suspect has been taken into custody, though details surrounding the incident remain limited at this stage.
Emergency services responded quickly to the scene, and authorities have urged residents to avoid the area while the investigation is ongoing.
Munson Healthcare, the largest medical provider in northern Michigan, announced that all 11 victims are being treated at its main facility. The hospital stated that updates will be shared as needed.
Hospital spokesperson Meghan Brown confirmed that all the injured individuals suffered stab wounds. Law enforcement officials reported that the weapon used in the attack appeared to be a folding knife.
Walmart has acknowledged the incident, stating that the company is cooperating with law enforcement and deferring further questions to the investigating authorities.
