At least 10 Palestinians were killed on Saturday after Israeli forces reportedly opened fire on civilians waiting for humanitarian aid in the northwestern area of the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

Witnesses said the victims were among a group of residents gathered in hopes of receiving food and supplies in a region devastated by months of continuous Israeli military operations.

This latest incident comes amid one of the deadliest and most prolonged conflicts in Gaza's history. Since the start of the Israeli military campaign on October 7, 2023, a total of 59,733 Palestinians have been killed, most of them women and children, with 144,477 others injured, according to local health authorities.

Emergency teams continue to report difficulties accessing areas with victims trapped under rubble or lying in the streets, as ongoing hostilities and restricted access severely hinder rescue and relief operations.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains catastrophic, with critical shortages of medical supplies, food, water, and fuel. International aid organizations have repeatedly warned that the targeting of aid seekers and blockades on relief convoys are worsening the crisis and violating international humanitarian law.

Calls are growing globally for an immediate ceasefire and unimpeded humanitarian access to civilians across the Gaza Strip.
