A horrific New Year’s celebration turned tragic in New Orleans as a vehicle plowed through a crowd on Bourbon Street, killing at least 10 people and injuring 35 others.

The incident, which occurred in the heart of the city’s French Quarter, unfolded in the early hours of the morning, shocking locals and tourists alike.

Authorities reported that the driver of a pickup truck bypassed barricades and sped through the crowded street, intentionally targeting pedestrians.

The driver also fired at police officers during the rampage, injuring two officers, who are now in stable condition.

Despite initial concerns of a terrorist motive, federal investigators later stated that the event does not appear to be terror-related.

Improvised explosive devices were reportedly found in the area, prompting additional security measures and investigations.

Emergency services declared the situation a mass casualty incident, urging the public to avoid the Bourbon Street area.

The city’s police force had been operating at full capacity for New Year’s festivities and the upcoming Allstate Sugar Bowl college football game, an event expected to draw thousands of visitors.
