At least 10 people were hospitalized following a shooting at a lakeside gathering near Oklahoma City, in the US state of Oklahoma, authorities confirmed.
Police in the city of Edmond said they received multiple reports of gunfire at a youth gathering near Lake Arcadia at around 9:00 p.m. local time on Sunday. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, where several victims were found with injuries of varying severity.
Emily Ward, a spokesperson for Edmond Police, said no arrests have been made so far and that investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the wider public. Officers remain deployed across the metropolitan area, interviewing victims and witnesses as part of an active investigation.
In addition to the 10 individuals transported to hospitals, authorities indicated that others may have sought medical treatment independently. The exact number of those injured has not yet been confirmed.
Lake Arcadia, located approximately 13 miles north of Oklahoma City, is a popular recreational destination known for picnicking, camping, fishing, and water sports. The incident has raised concerns over public safety at large outdoor gatherings as officials continue efforts to identify those responsible.
