A fuel truck explosion in Uganda's capital, Kampala, has tragically claimed ten lives, according to a Reuters witness.
The explosion occurred on Tuesday in the Kigoowa neighborhood, located in the northern outskirts of the city, along the busy road connecting Kampala to Gulu in northern Uganda.
The police reported that the fuel truck overturned at about 3:00 PM local time (12:00 PM GMT), resulting in multiple casualties and injuries. Authorities are still assessing the full extent of the damage.
Videos shared on social media platform X show the overturned fuel truck, with local residents rushing towards it to collect fuel before the devastating explosion occurred.
Other footage reveals a massive fireball engulfing the truck and nearby houses, with thick plumes of smoke rising into the air.
