Ten people lost their lives on Sunday when a truck plunged into a ravine in Ecuador's Amazon region, officials confirmed.
The sole survivor, a three-year-old girl, was rescued from the crash site in the Morona Santiago province, located in southeastern Ecuador.
The truck veered off the road near the Paute River, tumbling into the ravine where it came to rest overturned on the rocky riverbank.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the accident, which occurred amidst a surge in traffic due to Ecuador's five-day holiday for the Day of the Dead observance.
Emergency responders from Ecuador’s Integrated Security Service arrived on the scene to assess the damage and investigate the cause.
Photographs released by the agency show the vehicle overturned, surrounded by rocks along the river.
