At least 10 people have died, and one person remains missing following devastating landslides triggered by torrential rains in the southeastern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, according to local fire department officials.
Romeu Zema, the Governor of Minas Gerais, expressed solidarity with the victims of the landslides, which struck the city of Ipatinga overnight.
In a message shared on social media, Zema pledged the state’s full resources to assist the municipality in its rescue and relief efforts.
Emergency services are working tirelessly to locate the missing individual and provide aid to those impacted by the heavy rains.
