At least ten people have died in Argentina after severe flooding submerged the coastal city of Bahía Blanca following relentless rainfall.

According to the BBC, the torrential downpour lasted for eight consecutive hours, dumping an entire year's worth of rain—about 400mm—on the city in a single night. Local officials described the disaster as one of the worst weather events in recent history.

Meteorologists have warned that further storms could strike the area, heightening concerns about additional flooding and damage.

Emergency response teams are working to assist affected residents, but authorities fear the death toll could rise as recovery efforts continue.

Bahía Blanca has suffered from extreme weather in the past. In December 2023, a powerful storm killed 13 people, destroyed homes, and caused widespread devastation across the city.

The latest catastrophe adds to growing concerns about the increasing frequency and intensity of climate-related disasters in Argentina.
