1 Killed in Israeli Airstrike in Lebanon

At least one person was killed and three others injured after an Israeli airstrike targeted an open area between the towns of Tura and Abbassieh in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon on Thursday, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

The state-run National News Agency reported that ambulances rushed to the scene to check for possible casualties, noting that the attack caused panic among students in nearby schools in Ma’rakeh, Abbassieh, Tura, and Tyre.

The Israeli army confirmed it had struck what it described as Hezbollah infrastructure in the Tyre region, claiming the site was used to produce equipment for rebuilding facilities previously destroyed in the ongoing conflict. It accused Hezbollah of violating the security arrangements between Israel and Lebanon.

The attack comes amid heightened tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, with Israel intensifying its airstrikes and operations against Hezbollah positions in recent weeks. Israeli media reported earlier that the country was preparing for a possible new round of fighting aimed at weakening Hezbollah and pressuring Lebanon into a long-term agreement.

Since the escalation of hostilities in 2023, Israel’s attacks on Lebanon have resulted in thousands of deaths and injuries, while multiple ceasefire violations have been documented despite the truce in effect since November 2024.
