One person was killed and six others were injured on the campus of Elizabeth City University in North Carolina.
The incident occurred after the Yard Festival, the closing event of the week-long Viking Fest celebration at the historically Black university.
The university administration announced that the deceased was a 24-year-old man who was not a student at the university. His identity has not been released pending notification of his family.
As for the injured, the list includes four people who were shot, including three students. Two other students were injured in the ensuing chaos.
The university confirmed that the injuries are not life-threatening, and all of the injured were transferred to the hospital for necessary medical care.
