A gas pipeline explosion in western Baghdad has claimed the life of one energy police officer and left three others injured, the Iraqi Interior Ministry reported Wednesday evening.
The incident occurred in the Akarkouf area when a fire broke out at a gas valve due to a technical malfunction.
The deceased officer died while performing his duties, and three colleagues sustained burn injuries, two of them minor.
The explosion also caused damage to several military and civilian vehicles. Authorities are investigating the technical fault that led to the blast.
