One person was killed and 21 others are still missing as a result of a major fire that broke out on Monday in a lithium battery factory in the city of Hwaseong, south of the South Korean capital, Seoul.
Fire brigade official Kim Jin-young said: “We are still unable to enter and carry out rescue operations. We will do so as soon as the fire is under control.”
He added: "21 people are still missing. We will determine their whereabouts using the information we will obtain from the company."
One person died in the fire, while another suffered serious burns, as the same source explained.
South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol issued emergency instructions to the authorities, requesting that "all personnel and equipment be mobilized to focus on searching and rescuing individuals."
