A fatal collision between a passenger train and a truck in southwestern Slovakia has left one person dead and 21 others injured, authorities confirmed.
The crash occurred at a railway crossing on the outskirts of Dunajská Streda, where the train struck the truck, resulting in severe damage to the driver’s cabin, according to images published by TASR news agency on Thursday.
Emergency services said the truck driver died at the scene. The passenger train, operated by a private rail company, was carrying multiple passengers at the time of the accident.
Fire officials reported that 21 passengers sustained injuries, though none are believed to be in serious condition.
Police have closed both the railway line and nearby roads as cleanup operations continue and investigators work to determine the cause of the crash.
