One person was killed and another critically injured in a shooting at a popular entertainment district in San Jose that hosts a fan zone for the FIFA World Cup, according to local police.
The incident occurred on Sunday at San Pedro Square, a major gathering site for World Cup watch parties in the San Francisco Bay Area. No matches were being shown at the time of the shooting.
Police confirmed that one victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while a second person was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Authorities are investigating the case as a homicide and have closed several nearby streets.
