Hawass to Discuss His New Book ”The Guard” on Jan. 29

Zahi Hawass will discuss his new book ”The Guard (The diaries of Zahi Hawass)”, issued by Dar Nahdet Misr Publishing Group.

In ”The Guard (The diaries of Zahi Hawass)” Book: ‘ELharies...Ayam Zahi Hawass’ book, the maven Egyptologist simply recounts and narrates his life journey starting from the moment of his birth in the countryside, until his first archaeological excavation at the Kom Apollo site, where a statue of Aphrodite was discovered.

Moreover, Hawass has covered everything from his thoughts on his notable excavations to insights on his childhood in his home village Ubeidiya, Damietta city, and his debates, as well as his latest achievements, such as ( "Order of the Rising Sun,the most notable Japanese Order", and honorary doctorates from Russia University).

The renowned archaeologist, who earned a degree in Greek and Roman Archaeology from Alexandria University in 1967, also recalls that the discovery of the Aphrodite statue has changed everything and redefined how he perceives himself and his career approaches and prospects as well.

The book, which consists of 16 chapters and a collection of rare photos, also revolves around a number of charming and amazing stories about some inpiduals who had left their countries to see the treasures and antiques of Pharaoh, especially the old family.

The foreword to this book was written on its cover by his close friend and long-standing friend Moustafa El-Feki.
