The Israeli newspaper Yediot Aharonot said on Tuesday that at least 30 rockets were launched from Khan Yunis towards the towns of the Eshkol Regional Council and the border area with the Gaza Strip in southern Israel.

The newspaper added that the sirens sounded at 5:57 p.m. in the towns of Ain Hashlasha, Kasuf, and Ra'im, and most of them were successfully intercepted by Iron Dome, while the rest fell in open areas.

On his part, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, in a public video message reported by the newspaper, “The recent truce proposal presented by the Palestinian Hamas movement does not meet much of Israel’s basic demands,” adding: “Military pressure is still necessary to return the prisoners detained in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier today, Israeli forces took control of the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing, a move Netanyahu described as "a very important step towards destroying Hamas' remaining military capabilities."
