WSJ Announces Summer 2020 Video Internship

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has announced a video internship program for college juniors, seniors and graduate students in Pulitzer Prize-winning newsroom, working with some of the best journalists in the world.

What is the program goal?

The Wall Street Journal’s video internship is based in New York City and designed for students who intend to pursue a career in video journalism.

1-The training program provides hands-on experience in inpidual coaching and mentoring, as well as orientation and customized training sessions.

2-Interns will be treated like full-time staff members.

3-Interns will be trained on best ways to

· Write front-page news

· Create interactive graphics

· Write colorful features

· Produce a Video

4- The interns’ primary duties will include supporting the production of editorially sound and visually compelling videos, as well as publishing and promotion of videos both on the Journal’s platforms and off-platform.

Internship Terms and Conditions:

1- Having a strong interest in domestic and international news

2-Having basic video shooting and editing skills

3- Understanding of video formats and delivery methods

4-Having experience in dealing with Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator.

5- Understanding the growing needs of audiences across platforms

6-Ability to work independently under deadline pressure

7- Sound news judgment and dedication to high journalism standards are a must.

8- The interns will be expected to have the initiative to take on and learn new tasks in a fast-moving environment, while collaborating and communicating with other journalists around the newsroom.

The applicants should submit a resume, cover letter and no more than five samples of their work. Only complete applications will be considered. The deadline to apply is Nov. 1, 2019.

Timing:

The summer internships will take place over June, July and August, though start dates can be flexible in certain circumstances.

Only finalists will be contacted by mid-December.

Financing:

Interns will be paid $900 per week and WSJ will help with the cost of public transportation.

The US journal will not provide housing, but it can help point interns in the right direction.
