A number of clothing stores owners confirmed the increase in the prices of winter clothes during the this season by up to 50% in light of the high prices of raw materials, pointing out that there is, however, stability in the prices of school uniforms in order to relieve citizens and increase sales.

Mahmoud Al-Da'our, head of the Ready-Made Garments & Textiles Chamber at the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC) said that the prices of winter clothes will witness a 50% increase during the season, in light of the increase in raw materials prices compared to last year.

Al-Da'our explained that the stores are trying to contain the increase in prices to revitalize the market movement and break the stagnation that is sweeping it since the summer season, despite big discounts. "The succession of seasons from Eid Al-Adha, Summer, and the school season weakens the purchasing power of consumers."

On his part, Khaled Soliman, First Vice President of the Readymade Garments Division said that there is a large participation of clothing companies in the "Welcome Schools exhibition" during the current season, as the number of exhibiting companies in the exhibition reaches 22, displaying school clothes and ready-made clothing for university students.

Soliman pointed out that the prices of school uniforms are stable during the current season, despite the increase in raw materials in order to stimulate sales and break the stagnation in the markets, noting that there are discounts in the Ahlan Schools exhibition of up to 50% and prices are suitable for all citizens, starting from 50 pounds.

The exhibition will be launched from the September 16 until the end of the month, under the patronage of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

Regarding the summer sale, Soliman said that the sale contributed to stimulating the sales movement by up to 60%, as store owners resorted to more discounts and offers to dispose their inventory and increase demand.
