Social media is abuzz with rumors about the development of a sequel to the 2000 film “El Nazer” (The Headmaster).
It was claimed that the sequel will be titled “Ibn El Nazer” and hails from screenwriter Ahmed Abdullah and director Sherif Arafa.
Egyptian actor and musician Akram Hosny was believed to serve as a substitute for the film lead actor, late icon Alaa Wali El Din.
Hosny on Tuesday took to Facebook to put an end to rumors and noted that claims were untrue and he will not start in the project.
"Film 'El Nazer' is a comedy masterpiece. The news of joining the second part is false and I've read the news on social media," he wrote.
"El Nazer" also starred Hassan Hosny, Ahmed Helmy, Mohamed Saad, Hesham Selim, Basma, Suliman Eid, and others.
It is centered around Salah Al-Din Ashour inheriting a school from his father after his death but fails to manage it due to his lack of experience.
He tasks the vice principal to be in charge of the administration, the wrong person for the job.
Egyptian director and producer Magdy El Hawary also commented on the claims.
He noted that the sequel is in the works and will be focusing on the son of Salah Ashour.
El Hawary added Hosny was nominated to play the role.
