When Was Black Friday First Launched in Egypt, Changed to White Friday?

November is famous for what is known as Black Friday, the last Friday of November in which many brands announce a flood of offers and discounts.

In fact, it was more than just discounts, it was one of the biggest economic crises experienced by the United States went through.

What is Black Friday?

It began in 1869 when two businessmen in the United States of America took advantage of their connections with the Grant Administration in an attempt to corner the gold market. Their manipulation was recognized by the relevant authorities at the time and ordered to pump more yellow metal into the markets, which resulted in a large depression in the movement of buying and selling and a sharp decline in Gold prices forced sellers and shopkeepers to sell their gold products on the streets with unprecedented discounts.

This caused an economic crisis that still reminds the United States so far and hence the idea of Black Friday associated with the huge discounts that prevail in the world on this day of each year.

As time passed and the US economy regained its strength again, this day retained this anniversary and was linked by some brands and shops to offer their products at discounted prices to drive the buying and selling movement. It continued to expand and spread until it became a global day in which major brands and electronic markets around the world are accelerating to participate in it.

When was it come to Egypt and Arab countries?

In 2014, after the transfer of many European cultures and customs to the Arab countries, Black Friday followed this path and took control of the Arab markets, including Egypt.

However with a slight change in the name to be White Friday, the name launched by the marketplace, one of the Amazon platforms in the Arab World, based on the fact that the name Black Friday may reflect negatively on sales and consumers and in line with the Arab culture.

From here, Black Friday was launched strongly in Egypt and the Arab countries, where it witnessed heavy demand of brands, centers, and shops to participate in it with huge discounts on their products. The discounts reached 90% in some centers in the UAE, which was followed by huge profits of these centers tempted other commercial chains to participate in Black Freddy.
