US President Donald Trump has attacked a bishop who directly called on him to show compassion for vulnerable people, such as immigrants, calling her “nasty” and “not good at her job.”
As is customary for a newly sworn-in president, Trump attended an interfaith prayer service at the National Cathedral in Washington on Tuesday morning. Among the speakers was Bishop Marianne Bode.
In her address to Trump from the pulpit, Bode asked him to consider the children of illegal immigrants who “fear their parents will be taken away from them” due to immigration policies.
Trump insulted her and called her “nasty.”
Not only that, but Trump refused to shake hands with a woman who extended her hand to him during a Philadelphia Eagles-Kansas Chiefs game, 40-22, denying him a third consecutive Super Bowl title.
The Philadelphia Eagles won their second Super Bowl title, the crowning achievement of the American football season (NFL), and denied the Kansas City Chiefs their third consecutive title. Taylor Swift, the famous singer and partner of Chiefs player Travis Kelce, was booed by the fans when she attended to support his team.
On the other hand, Trump refused during his first term to shake hands with the Democratic Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, before delivering his speech in his first term.
Pelosi tore up the copy of his speech that he had given her.
