The Washington Post, a leading American newspaper, has decided to suspend advertising on the 'X' platform following the spread of false information and conspiracy theories by the platform's owner, Elon Musk.

Musk recently promoted a debunked conspiracy theory known as "Pizzagate," which dates back to an incident debunked about seven years ago.

This decision comes in the wake of Musk's continued dissemination of false information, despite such actions costing 'X' over $75 million in revenue and prompting some media companies to completely distance themselves from the platform.

A spokesperson for The Washington Post could not confirm the value of the ads on 'X' but affirmed that the decision would be effective starting this week, with the newspaper's ads ceasing to appear on Musk's platform soon.

On Tuesday, Musk expressed support for the long-debunked "Pizzagate" conspiracy theory, which led to a man firing shots inside a Washington restaurant in 2016.

This extremist theory falsely claimed that former US President Bill Clinton's family and Democratic Party leaders were operating a secret, satanic child sex ring in a Washington pizza restaurant.

Musk's post, viewed over 15 million times before being deleted around 2 p.m. local time, sparked significant controversy.

Despite suggestions from many 'X' users to add "community Notes" as a way to combat misinformation – a method Musk sees as ideal – none received enough positive votes from other users to be displayed on Musk’s post.
