Brazil forward Vinícius Jr has spoken publicly for the first time since the Seleção's disappointing exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, expressing his heartbreak and apologizing to supporters after the team's Round of 16 elimination.
After taking a few days away from the spotlight, the Real Madrid star shared an emotional message on social media, describing Brazil's early exit as one of the most painful moments of his career.
"Wearing the national team shirt is the greatest pride of my life, and going out of a World Cup in the Round of 16 is a feeling that is hard to explain," Vinícius wrote.
The 26-year-old admitted the squad had the quality to progress further in the tournament, saying the result was deeply frustrating for both the players and the fans.
"The feeling of frustration is enormous. We had a group strong enough to achieve more, and we couldn't," he added.
Vinícius also thanked Brazilian supporters for their unwavering backing throughout the competition before apologizing for the team's performance and promising to continue chasing World Cup glory.
"I apologize, and I will fight for our dream of returning to the top of the world," the winger concluded.
