History's 'Vikings' Renewed for Third Season - Variety

The original series followed Ragnar’s adventures as he discovered new kingdoms and cultures, the spinoff set at the moment in history where the conflict between Nordic and British kingdoms is reaching a breaking point.

“Vikings” ran for six seasons. It followed the saga of Ragnar Lothbrok, a historical figure who’s described both as a hero in Norse culture and the scourge of Anglo-Saxon England and West France.

The series was inspired by the tales of Ragnar’s achievements, showing his first adventures beyond the sea, the rise of Norse armies, and the attack of far-away kingdoms.

It also explored other historical figures connected to Ragnar, including his children and wives.
