The White House said it was “very close” to reaching a deal with Iran, as U.S. President Donald Trump pointed to military operations and his negotiating approach as factors bringing Washington and Tehran nearer to an agreement.
“The United States is very close to concluding a good deal with Iran,” the White House said, adding that recent military actions and Trump’s negotiating strategy had helped advance talks.
Trump said U.S. forces had “completely destroyed” Iranian nuclear-related sites, without providing evidence or details.
He added that extracting what he described as “nuclear dust” from Iran would be a “long and difficult process,” again without elaborating.
Iran’s foreign ministry warned of “serious consequences” following the detention of the vessel “Tosca”, in a separate development that underscores rising tensions.
The flurry of statements reflects a volatile backdrop of diplomacy and confrontation, with markets and regional actors closely watching for signs of either a breakthrough or further escalation.
