The United States has committed an additional $21 million in humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip to establish a field hospital.

Samantha Power, head of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), announced this assistance during her visit to the Egyptian city of Arish on Tuesday.

Arish is located around 80 kilometers from the western border of Gaza and serves as a point for receiving international aid, which is loaded onto trucks and transported to the besieged enclave.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas has led to the suspension of operations at many hospitals in the Gaza Strip.

Power utilized her visit to the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula to emphasize the United States' commitment to enhancing aid and protecting civilians while Israel continues its offensive.

Power stated that military operations must be conducted in a manner that distinguishes between combatants and civilians.

The United States has supported Israel's offensive but has urged Israel to work towards minimizing civilian casualties.

Washington has also called for a humanitarian ceasefire to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza.

The ceasefire, which lasted for a week and ended on Friday, saw a slight increase in aid entering Gaza, including fuel shipments.
