The 112th session of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization was inaugurated in the Georgian capital Tbilisi on Wednesday, in the presence of Giorgi Gakharia, Prime Minister of Georgia, 170 ministers and tourism officials from 24 countries, in addition to the participation of the rest of the world via video conference.

Dr. Khaled Al-Anani Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, delivered Egypt's speech which began by thanking Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the WTO for his visit to Egypt last August, which was his first outside Europe after the emerging Corona virus crisis.

Al-Anani then informed the council of the precautionary measures and health safety controls taken by Egypt to preserve tourists, citizens and all workers in the field of tourism, in addition to reviewing Egypt's successful experience in resuming tourism.

He also suggested forming a committee to unify precautionary measures and controls related to tourism and travel in light of differences detected in controls and procedures amongst countries, a proposal praised by all the attendees and the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization.

At the end of his speech, he recommended using "Travel Today" slogan instead of the currently used slogan "Travel Tomorrow", in order to preserve this important industry, which provides tens of millions of job opportunities to the world's citizens.

It is worth mentioning that the 112th session of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization will be held over 16-17 September.
