Egypt's film "Dear Ward” won the Bronze Award at the 51st edition of the Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF).

In a statement, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), said: "We are proud that the film “Dear Ward” won the Bronze Award at the Luxor African Film Festival 2023 and a special mention. This is the second award as the film won the Best Script Award at the Muscat Women and Children Film Festival this year."

"Dear Ward" is produced by UNFPA as part of the Population Awareness clubs Project and in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Etijah Foundation.

The film is produced to raise awareness of harmful practices against women and girls.

UNFPA hailed the cast of the film, saying: "Thanks to all those involved in this work, especially the film director, Marwa El Sharkawy, and Dr. Wael Saber, professor at the Higher Institute of Cinema, for his supervision of the film."

The film is currently being used during the awareness sessions of the population clubs at the youth centers as one of the edutainment methods employed, including music and theater.
