Training Workshop on Egyptian cuisine history will take place in Prince Mohamed Ali Palace Cairo, from 21 to 22 May 2023.

Organized by UNESCO in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt, the two-day workshop will bring together many participants concerned with food history, heritage, and culture in Egypt.

The sessions will aim at sharing experiences, defining good practices, and studying the contribution of gastronomy and food culture to the interactions and exchanges along the Egyptian Nile.

Egyptian cuisine is characterized by simplicity and special taste, and it has a long history since the days of the Pharaohs.

It is also rich in foods and drinks that are associated in the minds of the Egyptians with religious occasions and others that are beloved to their hearts, such as pancakes, Eid cakes, porridge, Ashura and Umm Ali, and rice with milk that was called “the Angels’ dinner” to be eaten at dinner.
