Britain has announced the appointment of diplomat Nigel Casey as its new ambassador to Russia, succeeding the current ambassador, Deborah Bronnert.
Nigel Casey is set to assume his post in November 2023.
A statement from the UK Foreign Office highlighted that Bronnert has been representing Britain in Russia since early 2020 and will soon take on another position within the diplomatic corps.
Casey's previous role was as the First Secretary at the British Embassy in Moscow in the early 2000s.
He has also served as Britain’s high commissioner in South Africa and as ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Between 2003 and 2006 Casey was posted to Moscow.
