The United Kingdom’s decision to formally recognize the State of Palestine is intended to revive hopes for peace and advance the two-state solution, British Ambassador to Egypt Mark Bryson-Richardson said on Monday.
In a telveised interview, Richardson described the move as a “historic decision” that underscores Britain’s commitment to the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination. He said the recognition represents “an important step toward building a pathway to peace.”
The British Ambassador also hailed Egypt’s “vital role” in mediating ceasefire efforts and serving as the main gateway for humanitarian aid into Gaza.
“The United Kingdom will continue to work with Egypt and its partners to achieve a lasting peace that guarantees security and dignity for all,” he added.
