The UAE Foreign Ministry refutes claims of supplying weapons and ammunition to any of the conflicting parties in Sudan since the outbreak of the conflict between the army and the Rapid Support Forces in mid-April.

Afra Al Hamli, the Director of Communications at the foreign ministry, was quoted in the statement as saying that the UAE has consistently supported the political process and efforts aimed at achieving national consensus to form the Sudanese government.

She further added that the UAE will continue to support all efforts that seek to achieve security, stability, and prosperity in Sudan until a ceasefire agreement is reached.

It's worth noting that the fighting erupted between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces following disagreements over plans to integrate the RSF into the army.

This turmoil unfolded as both military and civilian parties were finalizing a globally supported political transition toward civilian rule after the ousting of former President Omar al-Bashir in a popular uprising in 2019.

The conflict has also displaced around four million people, either within regions unaffected by violence or out of the country altogether.

Despite several regional efforts and UN attempts to mediate the conflict, multiple ceasefires that were previously declared between the parties have met a common fate: failure.

This has led many observers of the Sudanese situation to emphasize that both sides remain entrenched in their positions, making a near-term resolution increasingly difficult to achieve.
