Khaled Selim and Mai Selim's TV series "El Segel Al Aswad" (The Black Record) will no longer participate in the Ramadan 2023 drama marathon.
The series exited from the drama marathon due to the tight schedule and filming time, despite completing shooting the first ten episodes and providing the trailer of the show to one of the channels.
The cast also includes Ashraf Zaki, Lucy, Munther Rayhana, Dina, Hala Fakher, Mohamed Nagaty, and others.
Director Gamil Gamil Maghazi is helming the project from a script by Yasser Badawi and Nasser Topal.
"El Segel Al Aswad" marks the fourth collaboration between Khaled and Mai after the 2014 TV series "Gabal Al Halal", the 2016 film "Shaket Dabous", and the 2017 TV series "Ekhtyar Egbari".
On the other hand, Selim is planning to participate in the drama marathon with the star-studded TV series “Sero Bataa”.
It is helmed by Khaled Youssef and produced by Synergy production company. The series is inspired by acclaimed playwright and novelist Youssef Idris' novel "Sero Bataa".
“Sero Bataa” takes place between modern times and during the French campaign against Egypt in 1798.
The series is set to screen in the Ramadan 2023 drama marathon. It is considered one of the largest works scheduled to be shown in the drama marathon.
The cast features more than 60 Egyptian and Arab stars.
Egyptian stars include Ahmed Fahmy, Ahmed El Saadany, Hanan Motawie, Reem Moustafa, Hussein Fahmy, Amr Abdel Galil, Bayoumi Fouad, Salah Abdullah, Ahmed Wafik, Hala Sedky, Naglaa Badr, Menna Fadali, Ahmed Abdelaziz, Mahmoud Kabil, Aida Riad, Khaled Sarhan, Mostafa Darwish, Alaa Hosny, Nahed Rushdi, Ayman Azab, Ayman Al Shewi, Mofeed Ashour, Magdy Fekry, Mohamed El Sawy, Maysara, Sabry Abdel Moneim, Omar Zahran, Khaled Talaat, Sherif Helmy, Mahmoud Ezzat, Afaf Mustafa, and Heidi Selim.
Arab stars feature Kuwaiti singer Shams, Tunisian actress Rania Toumi, and Syrian actress Nidal Najm.
The series will also feature young talents such as Khaled Anwar, Hoda Eletreby, Mido Adel, Alhan Elmahdy, Islam Hafez, Racha Ben Maouia, Sharif Hafez, Tasneem Hany, Mido Maher, Olfat Omar, Salma Galal, Amr Moussa, Farouk Khaled, Amr Amroussi, Mahmoud Azazi, Mahmoud Al-Sharqawi, Amr Alaa, Mohamed Hassan, Ahmed Farid, and Malik.
Selim, born on November 6, 1975, is one of the most prominent singers in Egypt and the Middle East.
The pop star's songs appeal to youths and he is adept at singing in several different dialects which include the Lebanese, Gulf, and Egyptian dialects.
Selim established his skills as a great singer and begin a career in acting.
He made his acting debut starring opposite Dalia El Behairy in films “Kan Yom Hobak” (2004) and "Sana Ola Nasb" (2004).
Selim is also best known for his roles in TV productions such as "Bela Dalil" (2019), "Rasael" (2018), "Ekhtyar Egbari" (2017), "Wilad Tesaa" (2017), "Ma'moun wa Shorakah" (2016), "Baad El Bedaya" (2015), and "Gabal Al Halal" (2014).
