Egypt's Ambassador to France Ihab Badawi has announced the Paris-hosted exhibition "Tutankhamun, the Treasures of the Pharaoh", will be extended to September 22 instead of September 15.

"The extension comes in light of the vast success achieved by the exhibition, which is seen as one of the key cultural events between Egypt and France in 2019," Badawi said

The exhibition, which drew over 850,000 visitors, will be extended for a further week in light of the high turnout of visitors, the ambassador added.

He noted that the show organizers are set to hold a big celebration in mid-May on the history of the displayed Pharaonic artifacts in Paris.

The most famous ancient Egyptian king’s tomb was discovered in 1922; more than 3,000 years after his death.

Tutankhamun was born in the 18th Dynasty around 1341 B.C. and was the 12th pharaoh of that period. Tutankhamun did not accomplish much himself; he was placed on the throne when he was a child, and Egypt’s prosperous era was beginning to decline with the rise of Pharaoh Akhenaten and his new cult.

It is worth mentioning that the exhibition, which is held at the Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris since March 23, includes 150 pieces.

This exhibition came after 52 years of the exhibition of "Tutankhamun and his times," which was held at the Petit Palais in 1967.

Tutankhamun and his times drew over a million visitors.
