The Turkish presidency said on Thursday that the country's minimum monthly wage will rise to 8,506.60 lira ($455) in 2023, an increase of 55% from the level set in July and 100 percent from January.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told a news conference that the minimum wage could rise again throughout the year if necessary.
The annual inflation rate has exceeded 85% in recent months, but has begun to ease slightly.
Erdogan said that the federations of employers and workers could not reach an agreement, and that the government intervened to determine the rate of increase.
The workers union representatives did not attend the announcement, which was made at the presidential palace.
It is noteworthy that the dollar recorded 18.6 liras during the end of trading.
