Spokesperson of the Tunisian Ministry of Health Dr. Nissaf Ben Alaya asserted on Sunday that the outbreak of the British variant is the main reason for worsening the medical situation in Kairouan.
She pointed out that there is continued detecting for the existed COVID-19 variants in the city to know the features of each one.
The official highlighted that Kairouan is seeing a tragic jump in the number of daily cases. The level of the infection reached 400 positive COVID-19 cases for every 100,00 citizens during the past two weeks.
Therefore, Tunisian Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi imposed a quarantine on the whole state with locking down all districts that witness the tragic outbreak of the pandemic.
