Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has vowed to construct a missile defense system similar to Israel's Iron Dome to safeguard the United States.
In his 90-minute speech at the Republican National Convention, Trump referenced the Iranian missile attack on Israel in April, noting that Israel has the Iron Dome.
This missile defense system successfully intercepted 324 missiles with only one managing to partially get through.
He questioned why other countries have such systems while the United States does not, and promised to build an Iron Dome over the US to ensure nothing can come in and harm its people.
The specific threat Trump aims to counter remains unclear, as the Iron Dome is designed to intercept short-range missiles, a danger the United States has not faced along its borders.
