WASHINGTON, AUG 24 (SEE)- US President Donald Trump warned on Thursday of "catastrophic" repercussions on US financial markets move for impeachment.

"If I ever got impeached, I think the market would crash. I think everybody would be very poor because, without this thinking, you would see numbers that you wouldn't believe in reverse," Trump said.

“I don’t think any president has ever done what I’ve done in this short time," he added out.

Trump pointed to the positive economic achievements during his presidency, stressing that if Hillary Clinton won the elections in 2016, the Americans would be in a much worse situation.

"I do not know how you can impeach somebody who has done a great job," he said.

Trump's former attorney Michael Cohen made a painful political blow to Trump after he admitted in a New York court on Tuesday charges involving illegal payments in the election campaign, noting that the president was complicit in it.

Cohen admitted he had paid $ 130,000 and $ 150,000 for two women who said they had consensual sex with Trump, asserting that it was "at the request of Trump" and that the aim was to avoid spreading information that would "offend the candidate."
