U.S. President Donald Trump announced Friday that Washington has begun lifting what he described as an “unprecedented naval blockade” in the Strait of Hormuz, while simultaneously unveiling a new set of conditions aimed at curbing Iran’s future nuclear ambitions.

In a series of statements posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Tehran must provide a “clear and binding commitment” that it will never pursue nuclear weapons in the future. He also insisted that the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically vital energy corridors, must immediately reopen to international maritime traffic “without fees, restrictions, or interference” in both directions.

“The ships that were stranded in the strait can now begin returning to their home countries,” Trump wrote, signaling what appears to be a significant shift in regional military tensions after weeks of heightened uncertainty in Gulf waters.

The U.S. president further revealed that American minesweeping forces had already detonated and removed several naval mines from the area, describing the operation as part of broader efforts to restore freedom of navigation and stabilize commercial shipping routes.

On Iran’s nuclear program, Trump claimed that highly enriched nuclear materials buried deep underground, which he referred to as “nuclear dust”, would be extracted and destroyed through a coordinated mechanism involving the United States, Iran, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

According to Trump, only Washington and Beijing currently possess the technical capabilities necessary to carry out such deep underground extraction operations. He noted that no financial arrangements had yet been finalized, though “other less important provisions” had reportedly been agreed upon during preliminary discussions.

The remarks suggest the possible emergence of a new diplomatic framework between Washington and Tehran, despite years of hostility and escalating sanctions that have repeatedly pushed the region to the brink of confrontation.

Trump concluded his statement by announcing an upcoming meeting inside the White House Situation Room, where senior officials are expected to make a final decision regarding the proposed arrangements and next steps.

The developments come amid growing international concern over energy security, maritime stability in the Gulf, and the future trajectory of Iran’s nuclear activities.
