U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that his administration will impose "additional sanctions" on countries that continue to purchase oil from Russia, signaling a significant escalation in Washington’s efforts to curtail Moscow’s energy revenues.

According to Alqahera News, Trump warned that any nation buying Russian oil would face "increased economic consequences" under new U.S. sanctions being prepared by his administration. The move is part of a broader strategy to isolate Russia and limit its ability to finance its military operations.

In a separate policy announcement, President Trump declared his intention to introduce a 100% tariff on imported semiconductor chips in an effort to stimulate local manufacturing and reduce reliance on foreign suppliers.

“We are bringing chip manufacturing back to the United States,” Trump said, according to the report. “This is about protecting American jobs, our economy, and our national security.”

The proposed tariff is expected to have wide-ranging implications for the global tech industry, particularly for countries that export large volumes of microchips to the U.S., such as Taiwan, South Korea, and China.

The announcements reflect President Trump’s continued focus on economic nationalism and strategic decoupling from geopolitical rivals, as his administration doubles down on trade and energy-related pressure tactics.
