Egyptian media revealed that Portuguese coaching icon José Mourinho has been officially approached to take over as head coach of Al Ahly SC, replacing Spanish manager José Ribeiro.
According to Cairo 24, Mourinho confirmed he had received a direct call regarding the role but politely declined, saying: “I told them respectfully that I’m not interested at the moment.”
Reports suggest Al Ahly’s offer was made through a players’ agent and included a lucrative package worth around €9 million per year, plus performance-based incentives. Despite the attractive proposal, Mourinho, who was recently dismissed by Fenerbahçe following their failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, prefers to keep his options open before committing to his next challenge.
