Egypt booked their place in the international tournament after claiming the African Championship title in Morocco, where they defeated Tunisia in the final game. The African champions were pooled in Group B alongside France, Hungary, Sweden, Canada, and Chinese Taipei.
They are looking to follow the footsteps of Egypt’s U 20, who achieved the bronze medal at the Men’s Junior U21 World Championship in Spain.
They delivered an impressive performance during the tournament, as they became the first non-European team to achieve the full mark during the group stage in this tournament since 2009 when Brazil managed to do so.
24 teams, who participated in this tournament, were pided into four groups of 6 teams.
Here are the Groups:
Group A: Croatia – Spain – Slovenia – Norway – Chile – Saudi Arabia.
Group B: Sweden – France – Hungary – Egypt – China – Canada.
Group C: Denmark, Bahrain, Macedonia, Japan, Argentina, and Nigeria.
Group D: Iceland, Germany, Serbia, Tunisia, Brazil, and Portugal
