The historic area of Old Cairo hosted the annual celebration of the Moulid of El Sayda Nafis (Birth of Nafis), the granddaughter of the prophet Mohamed (SAW).
Thousands of Muslims visited the El Sayeda Nafisa mosque to mark this occasion.
They celebrated this holy occasion by singing Islamic songs and chanting spiritual poems.
They gathered for days before El-Leila EL-Kebera (The biggest Night) which marks the actual birthday, to celebrate it with the night-long Islamic enchantments, Tanoora dancing, and Dhikr circles in which some of them listen to Sufi chants of sheiks and read the Quran.
Moulid of El Sayda Nafis, which is affiliated with Sufism, has always started on a Monday in the second half of the Arabian month of Gamad al akhar for at least the past 100 years.
Sayeda Nafisa was born in Holy Mecca city but moved to Egypt with her husband and two children at a young age. She was welcomed by the Egyptians, and her house was soon a hub for religious lessons and Dhikr.
It's worth mentioning that the mosques of Ahl al-Bayt have a special place in the hearts of many people who come to visit them from all over the world and on every occasion, to praise the importance of these mosques and their archaeological and historical value, in addition to recognizing their moral value because they are affiliated to members of Ahl al-Bayt.
