"The Strangers: Chapter 1" Trailer Unveiled

Lionsgate has unveiled the official trailer for the upcoming horror movie “The Strangers: Chapter 1,” set to release on May 17.

The third movie in “The Strangers” franchise, which originated with Bryan Bertino’s 2008 movie, stars Madelaine Petsch as a woman moving to the Pacific Northwest to start anew with her fiancé. Their plans go askew when they stay at an Airbnb in Oregon, where they are subject to the torment of three masked strangers who show up at their door.

The cast also includes Rachel Shenton, Gabriel Basso, Ema Horvath, Richard Brake, and Ella Bruccoleri.

“Chapter One” is the first movie in a new trilogy directed by Renny Harlin, who has previously helmed “Die Hard 2,” “Cliffhanger” and “The Long Kiss Goodnight,” among other projects.

The original “Strangers” starred Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman as the targets of masked killers who break into their home. The second movie, “The Strangers: Prey at Night,” was released in 2018 and directed by Johannes Roberts and starred Bailee Madison, Lewis Pullman, Christina Hendricks and Martin Henderson as the victims.

Bryan Bertino wrote the script for the first entry and co-wrote the “Prey at Night” script with Ben Ketai, and he’s credited with the story for “Chapter 1.” The screenplay for the latest movie was penned by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland.
