A new trailer for "The First Omen", a prequel to Richard Donner’s horror classic, has been released.

It follows a woman, Margaret (Nell Tiger Free), sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, however, she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate.

The cast also includes Tawfeek Barhom, Sônia Braga, Ralph Ineson, Bill Nighy, and more.

Filmmaker Arkasha Stevenson is behind the project in his feature directorial debut. Ben Jacoby has a story by credit, with Tim Smith & Stevenson and Keith Thomas credited on the script. David S. Goyer and Keith Levine produced.

Gregory Peck starred in the original "The Omen", in which he plays an ambassador who believes his young son may be the living embodiment of the Antichrist.

Following a formidable box office performance of over $60 million, the movie, released in 1976, spawned three sequels: 1978’s “Damien: Omen II,” 1981’s “Omen III: The Final Conflict”, and 1991’s “Omen IV: The Awakening.”

A remake of the pic was also released in 2006 starring Liev Schreiber and Julia Stiles. It also inspired a TV series, Damien, which lasted one season on A&E.

“The First Omen” is the first prequel in the franchise and premieres in theaters on April 5.
