"The Crown" S5 to Premiere in November 2022

Netflix announced Saturday the season 5 of the hit series “The Crown” will debut in November 2022.

The news was revealed during the giant streamer's Tudum jubilee which featured announcements and updates on its series and movies.

Season 5 will feature Elizabeth Debicki as the late Princess Diana, who is taking over the role of Princess Diana from Emma Corrin, who played a young Diana in Season 4.

The season featured the princess meeting and marrying a young Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor) and dealing with the stress of worldwide fame.

It also highlighted the princess’s struggle with an eating disorder and her affair with James Hewitt (Daniel Donskoy) after learning of Charles’ romance with Camilla Parker Bowles (Emerald Fennel).

The new season will also feature British-born Egyptian actor Khalid Abdalla as Dodi Fayed, the boyfriend of late Princess Diana, and Salim Daw as Dodi’s father, billionaire, and former Harrods owner Mohamed Al-Fayed.

It also stars Dominic West as Prince Charles, who is set to play the role in the fifth and sixth seasons, taking over from Josh O’Connor.

The fifth season also features Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, and Jonny Lee Miller as Prime Minister John Major.

“The Crown” premiered in 2016 and centered around the royal family through several periods, starting in the late 1940s and early 1950s with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s marriage and early careers.

The series will conclude with season 6, taking the series up to the early 2000s.
