Tarzan actor Joe Lara died on Saturday in a plane crash that took the life of his wife Gwen Shamblin Lara and five others in Tennessee.
Lara, 58, was with his wife when the plane crashed into Percy Priest Lake outside of Nashville, the rescue team said.
He first portrayed the 1989′s “Tarzan in Manhattan,” in which the character travels from Africa to New York City.

He then took on the role again in the “Tarzan: The Epic Adventures”, which aired in 1996 but, this time it was centered on Tarzan in Africa.
Lara, his wife and five others were aboard a small jet when it crashed into the lake shortly after it took off before noon on Saturday. The jet was traveling from Smyrna Airport to Palm Beach International Airport in Florida.

“Recovery efforts are ongoing on the lake,” rescue team said. “We are asking all civilian boaters to stay clear of those areas.” Human remains and jet components have been recovered, authorities added.
