Seyed Hassan Mortazavi, the Deputy Iranian Ambassador to Afghanistan, met with Mawlawi Shabir Ahmad, the leader of the Ministry of Defense working group and the chairman of the Taliban working group entrusted with managing shared border concerns with Iran, on Tuesday.

Shabir Ahmad stated that "according to the order from the Taliban leadership, a four-member delegation of Afghan military and defence officials has been formed to facilitate cooperation at borders in talks with Iranian officials," referring to the atmosphere of cooperation between Iran and the caretaker government in Afghanistan regarding the resolution of border misunderstandings, according to Mehr News.

"Our objective toward neighbouring nations, particularly the Islamic Republic of Iran, which hosts millions of Afghan residents, is to avoid war and strife and to move toward full-fledged cross-border collaboration," the Taliban official continued.

Concerning the presence of some Taliban forces on the shared border with Iran, Shabir Ahmad stated that Taliban government officials, particularly the Minister of Defense, had issued orders prohibiting anyone from inciting conflict on the Iranian border and prohibiting military deployment on the shared border.

It was also agreed that the four-member Afghan team would meet with Iranian authorities after Eid al-Fitr in one of the capitals or at the shared border to resolve border concerns.

Meanwhile, it was announced earlier today that a delegation from the Afghan Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation will arrive in Tehran today to discuss Afghan refugee issues in Iran.
