Superintendent of Royal Treasury Badi Est’s Tomb Unearthed

Today, working Egyptian archaeological mission at El Gharifa archaeological site announced a new discovery, that is “Badi-Est’s” tomb who was superintendent of the royal treasury.

It contains various artifacts in a good condition like 400 faience ushabti figurines, gorgeous alabaster canopic vessels decorated with Badi-Est’s name and titles in addition they depicted the sons of Horus.

Moreover, two stone statues were found in the tomb. One of them depicted the goddess of Anubis and the other depicted a woman.

All discovered artifacts are in a good condition.

According to the secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Dr. Mostafa Waziri, the tomb consists of a burial well in 10-meter depth attached by a room surrounded by stone plates where the artifacts were found.

Waziri added six burials that have been found contained almost 1000 faience ushabti figurines, alabaster and limestone canopic vessels, two scarabs, charms, and pottery pots. The unearthed artifacts are dated back to the Late Period of ancient Egypt.

Furthermore, the mission unearthed four stone mummies in human body shape.

Last week, the same mission has discovered a mummy of the head of priests Djehut and it was decorated in cravings of the sons of Horus during excavating the archaeological site.

The latest excavating in El Gharifa revealed many artifacts for Djehut and a number of senior officials’ family tombs.
